Spring deals

Hello Friends & Family--

I think I've stated before that I am not a huge fan of boys winter clothing. I do however love spring/summer clothes. I am a huge sucker for boy's plaid shorts. So cute! The one downside of a growing kid is the constant need for a new wardrobe once the season changes. Plus you never know how fast they are going to grow during that season.

Now I do have my favorite boys clothing lines: Baby Gap, Gymboree and Carters. I was able to restock his wardrobe for pretty cheap with all the deals lately. I think I am most excited for his new swim trunks--swim lessons here we come! Let's just hope they all fit by the time the weather gets warm.

Blurry, he can't stand still in his new shades :)

I wanted to share my big deal of the day. I made a trip to Carters for pajamas (my all time favorite place for pjs) and Old Navy for a spring jacket. I walked away with: (3) 3 piece pj sets, (1) 2 piece pj set, a pair of khakis, (2) short sleeve shirts, a pair of sunglasses and a jacket for $31.99! I added it up at home and my total at full price would have been $163.82. I'd say that's a steal.

My purchases.

Hope you all have good luck finding deals too! Happy Spring!

Breckenridge 2013: Part II

Hello Friends & Family--

This year, I again opted out of skiing. Next year we hope to get Cam on the slopes, so we'll make it a true family affair. Daddy can't wait! Chris was lucky that they had a lot of snowfall this year, and fresh snow while we were there. Chris and Brandon were in ski heaven :)

I loved sledding!!

Shopping in downtown Breck.

Lots of snow this year!

We did however spend our time SHOPPING, sledding, enjoying wildlife and relaxing. As well as lots of eating :) We finally found a great little coffee shop in town too. We ended up trying a new restaurant called Modis. Great place and food if you are ever in Breck. I'd say overall it was a great trip, something that we look forward to every year. Chris and I have been going since before we were married and it's awesome to see how this little trip has evolved and added a little guy to the mix. Always thankful to my family for letting us stay there too!

Side note, the fox near the bottom lives near the house. They like to sleep on the roof and bask in the sun. Every year I try to catch him on camera to no avail. This year he made multiple trips around the house so I caught him on camera a few times. He was such a beautiful creature. At one point he was so close (he actually kept creeping towards me) that I actually started to get scared and backed away. One of the many reasons I love Colorado, the wildlife sightings are awesome!

I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking :) Sorry for the overload.

Great friends, great food!

Cam's toy corner :)

All ready to go sledding!

Latte art...best coffe ever!

Still gets into mischief, even on vacay.

Driving cars with Daddy.

Playing games with Auntie Alysia.

Mommy & Cam relaxing and enjoying the views.

The views...breathtaking.

The infamous fox!

Fox again, we saw him multiple times this trip.

Then it was off to the airport. We had a late evening flight home, again Cam didn't fall asleep until 3 minutes before we landed. I was able to keep him asleep until we got him into the car though. There was a storm moving into IL/WI and we were lucky enough (well Chris was) to drive in it all the way home. Our hour trip turned into almost 3, oops! Welcome back to Madison I guess.

Cam & Mommy at the Denver Airport.

He spent an hour watching the tram going by :)

Until next year Breck...

 More stellar views.

Breckenridge 2013: Part I

Hello Friends & Family--

We took our annual ski trip to Breckenridge February 21-26th. This year we found super CHEAP tickets to Denver at an airport outside of Madison. The 3 tickets were cheaper then our 2 tickets from last year. Yet the rental cars were more than double the price. Funny how that works.

We had an early flight, so we stayed in a hotel near the airport the night before. This hotel (which shall remain nameless) boasted that it had great rooms and an indoor water park. Let's just say it wasn't the greatest and we won't be staying there again. Cam did enjoy swimming for about 15 minutes though. No pictures at the hotel...

At the airport, waiting is hard :)

Since this year Cam was older (and very mobile), I was a little anxious to say the least about the plane ride. The thought of being trapped in a small aircraft with a rambunctious toddler was making me very nervous. In preparation I stocked up on some goodies that were especially for the plane (new books, stickers, mini puzzle and special treats). This year we opted to buy him his own seat (thankfully ticket prices were low). This guaranteed that we'd all be in the same row and could wrangle him easier. You aren't required by law to get them their own seat until they are 2 (we are close!). We also opted to use his carseat instead of just sitting him on the airplane seat. This was a GREAT idea for us, because Cam is a mover. I know Mr. Houdini would have gotten himself out and then ran around the cabin like a monkey :)

On the airplane.

He was very good during both the flights--also thankful they were direct flights. We learned that he's been growing b/c he was able to kick the seat in front of him. Lovely. I had read to stock up on $5 gift cards to places like Target or Starbucks before a flight (I also forgot this) and then hand them out to people around you when your kid acts up a bit. This keeps the peace and reassures the people around you that you aren't trying to ruin their flight. Since I forgot, I offered the woman in front of us another glass of wine. She declined and said she didn't even know she was being kicked--too much wine already perhaps??!! So note to all you families with young kids...try the gift card idea on your next trip! For the most part the new toys (mainly the mini sticker books) were enough to keep him entertained for the roughly 3 hour flights.

Mommy & Cam on the plane.

Our flight was early in the morning, so we had to wake Cam up around 4:30am. We had hoped that he'd sleep on the flight, but to no avail. He was way too excited about riding on the airplane and playing with his new toys. Yet when we arrived and took the shuttle to the rental car place he fell fast asleep. Go figures.

Sleeping next to our GIANT luggage pile.

We spent that first day at my Aunt & Uncle's house outside of Denver visiting my Aunt and Grandma. Right when we turned into their neighborhood there was a herd of antelope crossing the road. It was incredible to watch. It happened so fast I didn't get the best pictures, but I did get a few and a video! While we were at their house Cam had a lot of fun playing with his 2nd cousin's old toys and playing with Great Grandma and Great Aunt Amy! He even gave lots of hugs and kisses :) Then it was onto Breck. We arrived prior to anyone else so we had a chance to get settled and relax.

Antelope outside of my Aunt & Uncles--love the CO wildlife!

Onto BRECK! Yay!

I love watching the mountains on the drive.

Stay tuned for Part II!

Erin Condren

Hello Friends & Family--

Cutest packaging ever!
A little random shout out to one of my favorite organizational companies, Erin Condren. They make all sorts of fun stationary, life planners, phone covers, etc. I purchased my first life planner over a year and a half a go. Ever since then I've been hooked! It keeps my life organized, especially back when I had a newborn's schedule to keep track of.

Old one in the back, new one up front. LOVE!

I just received my 2013 life planner in the mail (delayed post, so more like back in February). I spent almost an hour updating and entering all of my dates (color coded of course) and can't wait to really get to dive in. Call me a nerd if you want but I love staying organized!

Amber

1st Dentist Appointment

Hello Friends & Family--

Playing in the waiting area!

Daddy and Cam watching Finding Nemo

As I've mentioned in the past Cameron has a TON of teeth. Twenty to be exact. Most kids his age aren't close to that, so strange to me the variation by child. Like they always say each kid is different! The suggestion is to have your child's teeth checked by a dentist when they first start getting their teeth. Unfortunately our dentist won't even give a child an exam until they are school age. I scoped out a few pedodentists in the area and got Cam set up for a cleaning and exam. While he's had teeth (many) for awhile, I didn't see any urgency to get him in earlier.

Mommy got to sit on the seat too.

Polishing those pearly whites!

On February 19th Cameron had his first dental exam! He was such a trooper. Dentist visits can be quite intimidating for an adult, imagine a 21 month old! He laid still while they did an oral exam and then polished all of his teeth. It only took 15-20 minutes, but he really surprised us at how tolerant he was. He held his little red hammer the entire time as a little security crutch, super cute!

He was super good! Hammer and all :)

While we were there we learned that yes in deed Cam has a lot of teeth, two extra to be exact. Yep, this kid has 2 extra teeth on the top row. It tends to run in families, which in this case we believe runs on both sides. It won't effect him at all (he does have two teeth turning a bit b/c of the lack of room). We will wait and see if his permanent set also carries these extra teeth. If he does then they'll just be pulled and most likely he'll have braces. I guess with the early detection we can start saving for them--I know they are EXPENSIVE!

Almost done :)

All Done!

He will go back in 6 months and just have another check-up. I think this means he's on the twice yearly schedule from here on out. Yay for dental expenses :) It's all worth it for pretty teeth though! Plus he received a cute little monkey for his good behavior.

Chris, Amber & Cameron
