1 Year Appointment

Hello Friends & Family--

On May 8th Cameron had his 1 Year exam. It was scheduled for the Monday following his Birthday, but unfortunately Dr. E was out sick. He was a lot more to handle this time around, as he didn't want to sit in my lap like previous visits. So he sat on the floor (yuck--it is clean though) and played with his stacking cups and little people. We also had to pull out the snacks :)

We didn't get to meet with Dr. E, but Dr. S. was very nice and said that Cam looked great! He had to get 3 shots this time, and will get 2 more at the 15 month appt. This time around he was a little bit more anxious with the shots (as was Mommy). We were told these ones burned, and boy could we tell. My little guy sobbed, but with some love from Mom was easily consoled. By far the worst shots to date (not the nurses fault by any means--they were great). He didn't have any reactions at all, which we are very thankful for!

Weight: 19lbs 12.8 oz--8.8%

Again we have a little guy, he's catching back up on length though! I am going to attribute the lack of weight gain to his constant mobility. This kid EATS a ton, but he also moves around ALL. DAY. LONG. There was no concern about adding more fat/calories so he's perfectly healthy!

Smash Cake!

Hello Friends & Family--

His Dr. Seuss themed cake.

There's recent trend of having a 'smash' cake for first birthday parties. I wasn't about to leave that out!  The bakery I ordered from offered a free one with the purchase of the larger cake. Got to love free things! I will say our wedding cake was MUCH better than this cake :)

I did fear that he would react to all the attention and eyes on him when we were singing happy birthday. Thankfully he just thought it was funny and had a grin from ear-to-ear. He was a little timid at first with the cake, but eagerly dug in once he got a taste. It was encouraged for him to stick his head in it :) There's a video of the entire event, but it is quite long.

All the cake photos are from a phone camera, I apologize as our camera was used to record the event :) Overall he loved the cake. Yet Mom and Dad may beg to differ as he was a little cranky at nighttime, which I suspect was a bit of a tummy ache. All worth it though!

1st Birthday Party!

Hello Friends & Family--

On April 28th we had a little party for Cameron! Of course the coldest day of the week would fall on that day too :) So the party was moved indoors and I think overall went really well for having 30 people crammed into our home!

Cam was still napping (not planned) when everyone started to arrive so boy was he shocked when he woke up to a house full of friends and family! Thankfully his little episode of stranger anxiety has disappeared. He had lots of fun playing with everyone.

The theme was Dr. Seuss! Cam is still a little young to understand the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss but I couldn't resist. I loved the primary colors and fun decorations. I'm sure from here on out I'll have to let the Birthday Boy pick his themes :)

52 Weeks!

Hello Friends & Family--

April 27th marks 52 weeks! We've been prepping for the little man's FIRST birthday party all week. He's been 'helping' me clean and run errands. He does a very nice job of taking his toys back out after they've been put away :)

There were no new foods this week, with the anticipation of lots of icing and cake I thought we'd lay low this week. He's still very busy getting into everything and strolling around the furniture. He loves pushing things around the room as well. I don't foresee him walking by his birthday next Sunday, but within the next month or two for sure!

51 Weeks!

Hello Friends & Family--

Cam was 51 weeks on April 20th, only one more week! Sadly I will no longer be taking weekly pictures, but plan to keep up with monthly shots. Don't worry I'll do my best to keep up with the blog and make sure you know the latest happenings with Cameron.

This week Cameron tried cottage cheese! He didn't mind it, but preferred if it was mixed with a veggie/fruit puree. Ok with this Mommy, any fruit or veggie that he'll eat I'll take it! I know one day he won't want to eat them. He is really into starchy foods: veggie straws, crackers, bread, etc. I obviously try to limit these, but he can be pretty persistent.

We had Daddy's first softball game of the season (most are late games so we won't be able to attend a lot). Cam went to quite a few games last year when he was pretty young. He enjoyed watching from his stroller for about 3 minutes and then he wanted out. Unfortunately the mix of rain/cold weather/dirt it didn't make for a very good playground. Maybe next time!
